Reading contemporary YA reminds me of that and this book especially had me immersed in it.Īria is still mourning the loss of her mother and the change in her father since his wife’s death that has led him to become abusive. There’s something quite special about first love and the big emotions that come with young love. I began reading it and was immediately hooked. I was itching for a good story when I picked up this book. We were not compensated in any other way, nor told how to rate or review this product. I think the formatting could have used some work. In this book too, the illustrations are simple and colorful. There are two pages where the words run into the two-page spread picture that gives the book a cluttered feel. Once again, the author introduces us to words native to India and includes a pronunciation list in the back of the book.

My son thought the Holi celebration, which includes dancing, singing and throwing colorful powder and water at each other, was kind of cool. The book briefly covers various aspects on the Indian culture, from the food to the landmarks. And my son and I think that children will learn interesting facts about the country they are reading. This is the second book my son and I read from this series.
